brilliant young Australian, and this pair should provide patrons with some thrilling and spectacular contests. Included k in a big programme, will b$ the presentation of the trophies, won during the season; match, scratch,'and handicap races, several novelty events, and the final series .of the popular teams’ races.
A special attraction will be an attempt ;iy Wilkinson on “Squib” Burton’s famous record of Irain 17 3-ssec for four kps (flying start), which ha? been standing since 1930., Wilkinson won the world’s championship title, in Paris in 1932, and has ridden prominently in Germany and Denmark, besides being a member of the Australian team since 1930. He holds the four-lap clutch start record -at Harringay and, with Vic Huxley, the fourlap clutch start record at West jHaip. Before coming .to New Zealand he won the York Motors’ Cup in Sydney and rode with conspicuous success dn test matches. An indication of the prowess of this, rider can be gained from; the following list of points scored during the , 1935 league season, in. England:—'Wilkinson 240 (highest), Dick Case 207, .Max Grosskreutz 186,' Eric Langton 179, Lionel Van Praag 177. Wally Kilmister 143. Up to two weeks ago Clem Mitchell held more records at the Sydney Stadium than any other rider—the two-lap (clutch start), three-lap (hari? dicap), and the two-lap (flying start); He competed oh the tracks' in California last winter,, and was easily the most successful of the Jour Ausbralians who made the trip to the United States, in addition, ha rode in all of the tests held in Australia last season,' winning the Chevrolet Cup.’ Free parking is again offered patrons by the management, Stadium Sports, Ltd.,’ and there will be ho'increase in prices; Special, trams will run. at frequent intervals from Cathedral square- If it is wet to-night, the meeting will be held on Monday.
