ner Ambulance Division as from December 2, 1935. > Service Chevrons Awarded Service chevrons for three years’ efficiency have been awarded to the following members of the Lmwood Rover Scout Ambulance Division. Privates C. H. Whall, O. E. Clark, A G. Touroll and H. E. Collins. > The service chevron for three years efficient service has also been awarded to Private R. McGrath, of the Christchurch Ambulance Division, and Cadet J. Dickson; of the Christchurch Cadet Nursing. Division.;*, ~ / Cadet Proficiency Badge Cadet Proficiency Badges have been awarded to the following cadets in the Canterbury district, who have qualified in the subjects set against their respective names:— • Christchurch No, 3 Cadet Ambulance Division:—Cadet P. Shannahan (2nd Badge for Fire Fighting. Hygiene, Nature Study; Public Service). Cadet N. Williams (Ist Badge for Fire Fighting, Hygiene, Rambling, Public Service). ' . . Christchurch Cadet Nursing. Division:—Cadet Joyce Robertson . (2nd Badge Child Welfare, Clerical Ability, Nature Study, Knowledge of the Order). Cadet Natalie Hammond (,Ist Badge for Swimming, Home Nursing, Public Service, Physical Exercises). Divisional Notes Members of the New Brighton Nursing Division met on Monday evening. Mrs E. Collard. Lady Superintendent, was in charge. There was a good attendance of members. In Ihc early portion of the evening Mrs Sawtell took the class for questions, and later Dr. F. Borrie; Assistant Commissioner, gave an interesting talk on appendicitis. The resignation of Dr. Borrie was received with regret. After the meeting the social committee met to make final arrangdmehts for the dance to be held in St. Faith’s hall on Thursday. This is to be the first of a series of monthly dances to augment divisional funds. Members of the No. 1 Girl Guide Nursing Division met on Tuesday evening at Brigade Headquarters. There was an excellent attendance, and Miss G. A. Donaldson, Lady Divisional Superintendent, was in charge. After inspection and the business of the meeting had been completed the members assembled with the Selwyn Nursing Division, and Dr. F.* Borrie, Assistant Commissioner, gave an interesting lecture on treatment of diptheric cases and the complications which sometimes follow. At the close of the meeting. Dr. Borrie, who has resigned his appointment, bade the Division farewell. There was a fair attendance of members of the Lyttelton Railway Ambulance division at its meeting on Monday evening. In the absence of Captain J. Lister the parade was taken by Mr J. Mintey. The divisional surgeon. Dr. C. H. Upham, gave the second of his lectures pn first aid, the subject being “Head Injuries and their Treatment.” Ambulance duties were afterwards arranged. The Christchurch Nursing Division met on Monday, with Miss Pegler presiding. A gift of £1 Is was received from the Wharenui. school committed to be used to further the work of the ambulance sisters of the division. Dr. Cooke attended later and gave a useful talk on the skeleton. The weekly meeting of SL. Matthew’s Ambulance Division was held, on Monday evening with a fair attendance of members. Mr F. J. Ashworth spoke on “Public Duties.” The divisional surgeon, Dr. Fahey, gave a lecture on circulation of the blood, answering a number of questions afterwards. The Selwyn Nursing Division met in the brigade rooms on Tuesday evening when Mrs Angus (Lady Divisional Superintendent) presided over a good attendance of members. Dr. C. Stenhouse (divisional surgeon) attended and gave a very instructive lecture on “Unconsciousness”; its causes and treatment. The usual parade of the Christchurch Ambulance Division was held ion Wednesday evening. Superintendent W: M. Palmer presided over a good attendance of members. The corps superintendent. Mr F. J. Ashworth, attended, and briefly addressed the division on public duty. When the business of the evening was .concluded, the divisional sturgeon. Dr. Walton Bremner, delivered k highly instructive lecture on physiology and anatomy The usual weekly parade of the No. 3 Ambulance Division was held on Thursday evening. Superintendent D. J. Next Thursday night will be a combined n.c.o.'s night, and some interesting stunts have been arranged: Divisional Picnic , ;> The first annual picnic, of the No. 3 Ambulance Division was "held last Sunday at Diamond Harbour. A party consisting of 40 merribers and their friends appreciated the efforts of an energetic comiriittee to provide an ; ideal outing. .Warih" sunshine during . the afternoon made bathing on the beach most enjoyable.- Organised games and races were held. Before returning tb, the city. Superintendent D. J. Somerville presented the prizes to the successful competitors. . .
