PERSONAL NOTES FROM LONDON (prom ora owx coerespondent.) LONDON, February 8. Mr Angus Mcßean, a New Zealand journalist, has received notice of his appointment to the teaching staff of the Institut Auf Dem Rosenberg, at St, Gallon, Switzerland. He is to take charge of the English pupils preparing fo£ the Oxford Entrance Certificate at the college, and he will at the same time continue his studies in French and German. Mr Mcßean, who began his journalistic career, on the “Southi land Times” and then joined the “New Zealand Herald” staff, resigned last September to travel through England. Captain H. Sutcliffe, of the Church Army, who has left to take up his duties in New Zealand, was entertained at Bramley before his departure. Captain Sutcliffe left by the Rangitata this week. Mr Humphrey Hall (Timaru) is in London studymg lor Tais AR.I.BA. degree in architecture. He is staying with his brother-in-law and sister, Dr. and Mrs A. M. Hartnell (Timaru). The Rev. C. F. Cross, M.A., , lately Vicar of Waiho, Diocese of Christchurch, his been appointed Rector of Bucknell, Bicester. The living is in the gift of New College, Oxford. Mr A. J. Wyness (Wellington), who is in the employ of His Master’s Voice Gramophone Company (N.Z.), Ltd,, has arrived in England to gain further experience with the firm in radio, television, and refrigerators. He expects to return to New Zealand on November 7, Major E. S. Harston was one of five overseas representatives of the British Legion who were allotted special positions opposite the Wellington Memorial to see the funeral procession of the late King. He was present as representative of former service men. Captain I. R. Withell, Royal New Zealand Artillery, has passed the examination (in written subjects) for officers seeking promotion in the Regular Army, Indian Army, and Dominion Forces, Mr R. C. Bryant (Wellington) is to be in London for one year on the unattached staff of the London County Council as an exchange teacher; from the Hataitai School.
