RECORD YEAR AT PORT OF LONDON Ships 4o and from British ports during 1935 aggregated 349.577,851 net registered tons —an Increase of 1.1 per cent, on 1934. The figures for the Port of London, 59,752,434 net registered tons, are the highest ever recorded, and constitute a record for British ports. The fiures for the other chief ports are as follows:—Liverpool, 33,230,099 net registered tons; Southampton, 25,004,035; Hull, 12,115,428; Manchester, 7,573,304; Bristol, 7,091,650. PORT OF LONDON RETURNS

During the week ended January 17, 879 vessels, representing 919,316 net register tons, used the Port of London. Of these, 427 vessels (693,638 net register tons) were to and from Empire and foreign ports, and 452 vessels (222,678 net register tons) were engaged in coastwise traffic. The arrivals Included 11 meat cargoes—eight from Australia, one from New Zealand, and two from South America, comprising 260,000 carcases of lamb and mutton, 108,000 quarters of beef, quantities of pork, rabbits, and sundries.
