light to moderate and variable winds, with north-easterlies prevailing. JHcather fair to fine and mild. Sea* slight to moderate. .
The following is the Dominion forecast:— ■
Some scattered and mainly light rains are still probable from Hawke’s Bay,northw*rds. and also In the far south and south-western areas of the South Island; elsewhere fair to fine. Temperatures warm. An anti-cyclone is situated east of the Dominion, while shallow depressions are passing to the north and south.
Winds—South-easterly to southerly north of New Plymouth arid Napier; strong in the far north, but decreasing, and otherwise moderate; elsewhere variable, with north-easterly to northerly prevailing; light to moderate mainly, but strong in the far south. Seas (New Zealand waters)— Hough north of East Cape; elsewhere slight to moderate, but rising about Foveaux Strait. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate winds; south-east-erly in the northern portion and variable In the southern portion; seas slight to moderate, CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday was fine and sunny, with a very light easterly wind. The maximum temperature recorded was 66.7 degrees. At 1 o’clock this morning . a strong easterly breeze was blowi ing, and the sky was clear. The ; temperature was 58. The .barometer i was steady and registered 29.991 n. Meteorological observations taken at the Magnetic Observatory, Christchurch, at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on March 6:—

Auckland—A moderate south-east wind, and overcast and humid weather were experienced yesterday, conditions being very unsettled. The barometer was falling and registered 29.8 Inches.
Wellington—The weather was again brilliantly fine, 'with a gentle breeze from between east and south prevailing. The minimum temperature on Thursday night was 49,3 degrees and the maximum yesterday 69.1 degrees. The temperature at 4 p.m. yesterday was 67.5 degrees. Dunedin—ldeal weather was experi- \ enced yesterday, the sun shining from a clear sky. A light north-east wind prevailed and the maximum: temperature was 69 degrees.
