REPORTS OF ELECTION
MEETINGS TO TBt EDITOR OF THB PRESS. Sir,—As a subscriber to your paper and one who is interested in local government, I claim the right to protest at the unfairness of your report about the coming by-election. in your report of Mr Beanland’s candidature for Mayor and the Citizens’ Association candidates for the council, you gave two columns of addresses to the electors and to Mr Archer, candidate for Mayor, and the same number of Labour candidates for the; City Council as the Citizens have, you gaye us six ipches. * Now, I should like to know what is the great idea. Quite recently you have been telling the people you make no distinction and there should be no party. Is not your unfairness enough to create party feeling? This kind, of thing cannot go on for ever, for the people will not put up with it. I ■womd like you to point out where the fairness comes in.—Yours, etc., C. E. HAWKER. March 5, 1936. ITliis letter is discussed in our editorial columns. —Ed, "The Press.”]
