CARD PARTIES

The committee of the New Brighton District High School held its usual Weekly euchre tournament in aid of the funds in'the* high school. Prizes were won by Mesdames W. Spencer, N. Johnstone, and Ludbrook, and Messrs R. T. Day, J. Merritt, and E. F. Philpott. A “flag 500” party arranged by a committee of women from the New Brighton Roman: Catholic Church to augment the school funds was held in the school, Lonsdale street. The successful players were Mr T. Saunders, the Rev. Father T. O’Regan, and Mrs O’Sullivan.

At its pavilion, Richmond terrace, the-South Brighton Croquet Club held a five hundred evening this week. The highest scores were made by Mrs G. W. Weavers and Mr E. J. Cooksley. The social ‘ committee of the New Brighton Bowling Club held its usual whist party, in the pavilion this week. Prizeswere . won -by , Mrs Ralph Stringer and Messrs L. s W* Besley . and T. Bisman. Mesdames T. Joynt and R. Sutton were the hostesses at the weekly bridge party held in the New Brighton Croquet Club’s pavilion, Rawhiti Domain. The prize-winners were Mesdames Sutton, C. March, and A. Dey.
