MORE ASSISTANCE FOR UNIVERSITIES
♦ m (BRITISH OFFICIAL WIMLKSS.) RUGBY, February 28. The State grant for universities now £ 1,830,000, is to be raised to £2,100,000 for each year of the next five years, with a special additional increase of £150,000 for the first year of thSit period. Announcingthis decision the Chancellor of the Exchequer (Mr Neville Chamberlain) says that in making this special addition to the vote his Intention as, in effect, to give back to the universities the grants and the reserve of £150,000 which was surrendered to. the Exchequer during th# financial crisis.
