♦ TEAMS RACES CONTINUED CONTESTS BETWEEN .CLIBBETT AND MITCHELL The races between teams of local riders at Monica Park continue to be interesting, Three were run on Saturday night. Lately the teams have become surprisingly evenly matched, and it appears that the points won earlier In the season will decide the issue. The position now is: Red 39, White 43, Blue 28. Overseas match races between Clibbett, of England, and Mitchell, of Australia, were not without excitement in spite of the smallness of the field. It was unfortunate that misfortune to Mitchell should have given Clibbett the win, after each had won a race. Clibbett won by five points to three. The Pye Handicap, an open event over four laps, brought the best riding of the evening. Clibbett, riding from scratch, won on his merits. He had obvious advantages over the local men; but these races showed, too, that the riding here has quality. The races for the Chevrolet gold helmet between Rhodes and Roscoe had to be cancelled. Rhodes broke a collar-bone in the third heat of the Pye Handicap. The helmet went to Roscoe by default. In place of these races were two dashes over two laps. Neill and Forbes competed in the first, and Durapleton and Lamport took part in the second. Neill and Forbes rode to a dead heat in a most exciting contest. Their time was 46 seconds. Dumpleton won from Lamport in an event which had little interest. His time was 45 2-ssec. Results:— OVERSEAS MATCH RACES % (Three laps, clutch start) First Race—Mitchell 1. Clibbett 2.
