Miss Nell Morten (Tai Tapu), who has been staying with Mrs R. E. Alexander, Cashmere Hills, returned home yesterday. Mrs Maire M. Arthur, who will represent New Zealand at the International Congress of Business and Professional Women to be held at Paris in July, left New Plymouth last week, en route for England. Mrs Arthur is organising director in New Zealand of the International Federation of Business and Professional Women, and after attending the conference will travel further afield under the auspices of the Society for Cultural Relations. She will make special investigations during her travels into clinics, welfare I centres, prisons, and other social institutions, and has been invited to i undertake a lecturing tour through j America on her return, ‘ Mr R. J. Gilmour. managing director of the “Southland Times,” Invercargill, and Mrs Gilmour, arrived at Napier at 10 o’clock on Tuesday night. They left Invercargill at 8 o’clock that morning by aeroplane for Palmerston North, where they took a motor-car for : Napier, Mrs Gilmour is enthusiastic in her accounts of the comfort and ease of air travel, Mr Gilmour, who is attending the Press Conference, greatly values the time saved by the air journey.—Press Service. The Municipal Band will play popular selections during the afternoon. Members of the league are invited to the garden party and it is hoped that, as in past years, they will pay their annual subscription of 2s 6d on that day.
