LYTTELTON YACHT AT WELLINGTON.
♦_ — ROUGH TRIP ACROSS COOK STRAIT (PE*Sa‘ ASBOCUTIOW TILBOKAU.) WELLINGTON, February 26. The auxiliary ketch Miranda bound from Lyttelton to the Marlborough Sounds, put in to Wellington with her engine disabled and t ° her jib torn into ribbons. She will be here for about two .days while repairs are being made. The Miranda left Lyttelton on Sunday. Off Kaikoura the engine broke down, and the yacht was forced to spend two days there in thick fog. Last night a strong southerly sprang up, and she made port this morning, after a decidedly rough trip. Those on board the Miranda were Messrs C. K. White (owner), G. White. O. White, and K. Burrowes. The yacht, which is a 32-foot auxiliary ketch of the Colin Archer design, is a now addition to the Lyttelton fleet. It was built in Dunedin towards the end of last year. The party on board intended to spend about two weeks on the cruise, visiting the Marlborough Sounds. It was thought that the trip from Lyttelton to the Sounds would take about 30 hours.
