FAREWELL LUNCHEON
MR A. E. TALBOT HONOURED To bid farewell to Mr A. E. Talbot, manager of the Phoenix Assurance Company, who will retire at the end of this month, the agents of the company held a luncheon in Ballantynes lea rooms yesterday. Mr J. W. Hillary, who presided, welcomed Mr R. H. Rowland, the general manager of the company in New Zealand, who had come specially from Wellington to be present at the function. Mr Hillary also welcomed Mr Lezard, who has been appointed manager in place of Mr Talbot. The good feeling and kindly relations which nad existed between Mr Talbot and the agents were mentioned by Mr Hillary and Mr H. R. Best. Mr Rowland said that both he and the directors appreciated Mr Talbots splendid service and loyalty to the company of nearly 40 years. On behalf of the agents of the cofnpany, Mr W. S. Newburgh presented the guest with a canteen of cutlery. Mr Talbot expressed his thanks to those responsible for the gathering and said that his interest would always be with the company, and his advice would at all times be available to the agents.
