(PASTORAL ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING HELD (BFSCU& TO TEX PUSS.) BLENHEIM, February 24. The annual meeting, of the Marlborough Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held, the president (Mr F. J. Beamsley) presiding. The balance-sheet disclosed that a profit of £SB had been made on the last show. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr H. J. Thomson; vice-presi-dent, Mr A. O. Hammond; treasurer, Mr A. Hodgson; committee, Messrs F, J. Beamsley, L. G. Dollar, J. W. Douglas, R. Dysart, R. M. Fairhall, C. P. Gainsford, A. J. Gifford, S. T. Richmond, G. H. Stace, T. S. Critchley, W. H. Bishell, R. Forsyth, T. C. Hammond, J. W. Gosling, L. W. Gane, E. Dalton, J. F. Neal, and W. L. Hammond. It was suggested as a recommendation to the incoming committee that two women should be nominated to act in conjunction with the committee handling the home produce and sewing sections, Mr T. Morrin was accorded a hearty vote of appreciation j n recognition of services rendered to the association during- the last 28 years. Messrs E. Matthews, .W. R. Jackson, and A. Kennington were elected members. A recommendation to the incoming committee was passed, that culled rams should be marked on one ear in future for the association's annual ram fair. Messrs D. Bishell and R. Hanr were elected life members of the association in recognition of their long and valuable services. Bowls The Marlborough Bowling Centre’s rink championship finals were to have been played this afternoon, but were postponed because of the recent heavy rains. As the Wellington Centre has decided to resume its pennant fixtures the proposed visit to, Blenheim has been postponed until March 14. The visit was to have taken place next week-end. Because of the heavy rains all cricket arid tennis fixtures for Saturday were postponed. Personal Mr L. L. Derbridge, manager of the Blenheim branch of the Union Steam Ship Company, will be succeeded by Mr L. H. Bohmann, who has arrived in Blenheim. Mr Derbridge, who has been trmsferred to Lyttelton, will leave to take up his new duties next week. Mr R. P. Furness left for Wellington last evening on his way to Napier, where he will attend the annual meeting of the New Zealand Press Association and the New . Zealand Newspaper Proprietors’ Association. Girl Guides’ Swimming Sports The annual swimming sports of the Blenheim Girl Guides and Brownies were held at the Municipal Baths, and good entries were received for most of .the events. The officials were:— Starter, Mr J. G. Bacon; handicappers, Mrs S. T, Evatt and Miss M. O’Leary; judges, Mr H. Llanfear and Misses E. Waters and N. Glunies-Ross. The results were:—loo yards breaststroke championship (Smith Cup): Mary Gow 1, Marie Tierney 2, Francis Stamp 3. Brownie beginners, 15 years: Nancy Lyford 1, Margaret Coker 2. Guides beginners, 15 years: Kathleen Simson 1, June Cameron 2, N. Thomas 3. 30 yards handicap: A. McMahon 1, M. Mearns 2, A. Coker 3. Brownies dive: Helen Wilkins 1. 25 yards breaststroke handicap: M. McMahon 1, A. McMahon 2, IA. O’Connor 3. Dive, guides: A. O’Connor 1, M. Gow 2, F. Stamp 3. 15 ‘ yards backstroke handicap: M. Mearns 1, F. Stamp 2, A. O’Connor 3. 50 yards handicap: M. Gow 1, N. Johnston 2, F. Stamp 3. Crocodile'race: M. Gow and F. Stamp 1, K. Simson and A. O’Connor 2, Consolation race: N. Gill 1, J. Healy 2, A. Webb 3. Relay race: No. 2 Company 1, No. 4 Company 2. Senior points cup: Mary Gow 19 points, Francis Stamp 11 points. Junior points cup: AJison O’Connor 10 points, K. Simson 8 points.
