The Hon. D. G. Sullivan, Minister for Industries and Commerce, arrived from Wellington on Saturday morning. •

Mr H. C. Hassall left Christchurch yesterday for Dunedin on a short business trip. The Hon. T. O'Byrne, M.L.C., was a passenger from the north on Saturday morning. Dr. D. G. McMillan, MP., arrived from the north on Saturday.

Mr E. J. Howard, M.P., arrived from the north on Saturday.

Mr lan R. Donald has returned from his visit to Auckland and has resumed his duties as manager of the State Theatre. . Professor P. H. Powell, professor of electrical engineering at Canterbury University College, returned from the north on Saturday. Mr Jack Bristed (Wellington), who is visiting Christchurch, will return north to-day. He will leave next week for a visit to Britain. Mr Arthur Rose returned from the North Island yesterday morning after an absence of five weeks.

A notice in the latest Gazette states that Mr Clyde Carr, M.P., of the Free Religious Movement, is an officiating minister within the meaning of the Marriage Act.

Captain L. M. King, M.8., attached to the Ist Battalion, Canterbury Regiment, has been appointed major in the New Zealand Medical Corps, according to a notice in the Gazette.

Major-General Sir William Sinclair-Burgess, General Officer Commanding the New Zealand Forces, arrived from the North Island yesterday morning. He was accompanied by other officers of the ,New Zealand Military Forces, who will make an inspection of the territorial camp at Mount Somers to-day.
