WIRELESS AERIALS

STORM DAMAGE AT AUCKLAND

Wireless has brought many problems in its train not the least of which is the aerial. In Auckland and suburbs there are many unsightly masts, dozens of which haye been put up by enthusiastic boys and others who have given no thought to the crudeness of their work. The recent cyclone found many weak spots in Auckland's array of masts, and when the blow was over repairs had to be undertaken in all directions. Different is the story at Huntly. Those who pass through that coal mine township must be impressed with the multiplicity of wireless masts. Hardly a house is without an aerial, but the masts appear to have been standardised. They are erected in workmanlike style, nearly all being of uniform height, neatly painted, and each with a flagpole cap, picked out in different coloured paint. In fact, all these wireless masts are as neat as flagpoles. Huntly has set an example that might well be followed by other towns, and cities as well.
