RADIO EXPERTS TO BROADCAST
WEEKLY SHORT-WAVE PROGRAMMES
News has been received here of a series of weekly broadcasts now in progress from the General Electric Company's powerful short-wave station in Schenectady, United States. The broadcasts are given every Wednesday at 11.45 a.m. New Zealand summer time, through Station W2XAF, operating on a frequency of 9530 kilocycles or a wave-length of 31.48 metres. All tne speakers scheduled to broadr cast are experts in different departments of the company. The series is called '"Backstage in Schenectady," and future programmes will be:— January 29: Mr W. G. Gartner, of the patent department, on "Early Developments and Research in Schenectady." February 5: Mr L. A. Hawkins, executive engineer of the research laboratory, on "Stories of Research." February 12: Mr E. M. Kinney, of the company's aeronautical and marine department, on "Early Radio Experiments and Tests in Schenectady." February 19: Mr Robert Palmer, of the research laboratory, on "Unusual Requests and Anecdotes in Connexion with the Operation of the General Electric Research Laboratory." February 26; Mr L R. Weir, of the radio engineering department, on "Experiences in Installing a Radio Transmitter in a Foreign Country." March 4: Dr. Saul DUShman, assistant director of the company's research laboratory, on "Anecdotes in Connexion with High Vacuum Tube Research." March 11: Mr R. C. Robinson,: of the vacuum' tube department, ion "The Early Days of Vacuum Tube Manufacture."
