♦ i V VISITING PROFESSOR'S PRAISE "BEST BARITONE HEAZ2 IX NEW ZEALAND" j Enthusiastic praise of the quality aid possibilities of the baritone voice of Mr Pat Murdoch, of Christchurch, has been offered bsr Mr Roland Foster, Professor of Singing and Principal of the Opera School at the New South Wales State Conservatorium of Music, wha is at present in Christchurch. Mr Murdoch sang before Mr Foster, who said afterwards that he had heard several notable singejs during his tour of New Zealand* but that Mr Murdoch's voice was outstanding. Mr Murioch posssssed a fe* musical quality and a good raaga, Mr Foster said. His notes were,txceptionally resonant, and were at all times pleasing to the ear. It was distinctly a vcice cf great possibilities, and one of the few for which he could feel justified in predicting worth while. Mr Murdoch': voice, exceptionally well developed for a person in his eighteenth year, would sound weS either from the' stage or over the radio. Mr Murdoch, who is only in his eighteenth year, is a son of Mr and Mrs W. Murdoch, of Riccarton road Mrs Murdoch has achieved succfiß £.s a composer. She has alreadl? Lad several songs published m London, among which is the wait?, "Longing," written for voice and piano.
