NEW WARSHIPS FOR NEW ZEALAND

— — 11..M.5. ACHILLES TO BE COMMISSIONED SOON LONDON. January 17. The naval correspondent of “The Times” says that the arrangement made in 1934 to replace H.M.S. Dunedin and H.M.S. Diomede with cruisers of the Leander class will begin to be effective when H.M.S. Achilles is commissioned shortly as the flagship to succeed H.M.S. Dunedin. A list of officers needed for volunteer service on loan to New Zealand is published in Fleet Orders to-day. A writer points out that New Zealand thus obtains faster, stronger, and more modern ships. H.M.s! Achilles is the first aircraft-carry-ing ship to serve with the New Zealand division of the Royal Navy. '
