COLLIE DOG TRIALS
TO THIS EDITOR OF THE PRESS. S ir > —At oUr recent annual meeting uw 6l " 6 accorded a very sincere vote of thanks and appreciation for the wonderful help and assistance you have been, not only to our own club, but to practically every collie club in the South Island. ‘ ft not generally recognised that the whole of the sheep farming industry of this Dominion is entirely dependent on the work of what is known as the working collie dog. Our exports of frozen meat, wool, etc., would be practically nil without the assistance of the collie. We would also remind you of the fact that indirectly every farmer, freezing company, stock and station agent, bank, storekeeper, even tne Cnnatchurch Press Company,
being carried on the back of the working collie dog. I only mention these facts in order that you will realise that your assistance to collie dog clubs is of national importance. It is only by the holding of these sheep dog trials that the present high standard of breeding can be maintained, and we hope that by our efforts on behalf of these wonderful dogs we will merit a continuance of your loyal and consistent support. It is readily admitted by all sheep dog men that the present popularity of sheep dog trials and their great success are greatly due to your publicity and distant circulation.— Yours, etc., C. McKEEGAN. Hon. Secretary. Waikari Collie Club. Hawarden, January 16, 1936.
