ANNUAL PICNIC
♦ EMPLOYEES OF CITY COUNCIL ENJOYABLE DAY AT AMBERLEY The annual picnic of the Christchurch City Council employees was held on Saturday at Amberley, and there was an attendance of nearly. 600. The day was a great success, and the picnickers were favoured with beautiful weather.
Amongst those present were the Mayor, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, MP„ Minister for Railways and Commerce, and the Mayoress: the assistant town clerk, Mr j. F. Eames, and the city engineer, Mr A. R. Galbraith. Many running events for both adults and children were held during the day. During an interval in the day’s programme Mr Sullivan complimented the committee for the arrangements made for the outing, his only regret being that it was not a full council picnic. He stated that it was the last picnic he would be
present at as Mayor, but this did not mean that he would not attend the picnic next year. . x _ 'A vote of thanks was passed to Dr. Pearson for travelling to judge the baby competition.
