♦ AMERICAN ATHLETES TO COMPETE NO INVESTIGATION OF CONDITIONS (Received December 9, 10.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, December 8. After a second day of bitter parliamentary tactics, the American Athletic Union declared itself, by 61 votes to 55, in favour of full American participation in the Olympic Games at Berlin. Then, by an equally narrow margin, it rejected a resolution authorising the committee to investigate further the conditions under which the Nazi Government will manage the games, and what discrimination, if any, will be practised against Jews and Roman Catholics
