AEROPLANE CRASHES IN SEA

MISHAP OFF AUSTRALIAN COAST BRISBANE, December 9. In a blinding rainstorm, an aeroplane owned by Rockhampton Aerial Service, Ltd., crashed into the .sea at Caloundra, and was badly damaged. The pilot, Mr A. Spence, escaped injury. The engine cut out when Mr Spence was flying. 150 feet above the sea. He headed for the land, but came down 100 yards from the shore. The machine remained afloat, and Mr Spence crawled on to a wing, where he remained while members of the Caloundra Life-Saving Club rushed out the line; and towed the machine ashore.
