TREATY BREACH ALLEGED
O JAPANESE ACTION IN NORTH CHINA APPEAL TO SIGNATORIES OF PACT (Received December 4, 7.5 p.m.) LONDON, December 3. The Chinese Ambassador interviewed sir Samuel Hoare (Foreign Secretary) claiming that tije Japanese military action in North China was a breach of the Nine Power Treaty. The other signatories have been similarly approached. DEATH OF PRINCESS VICTORIA SYMPATHY WITH KING AND QUEEN COURT MOURNING FOR SIX WEEKS (Received December 4, 7.5 p.m.) LONDON, December 3. .Sympathetic references to the death of Princess Victoria were made in both Houses of Parliament, and silent tributes to the memory of the Princess were paid at the London County Council and other meetings. More formal expression will be given to members' sympathy in the House of Commons to-mor-10W. Fifty peeresses in deep black attended the opening of Parliament, which was robbed of its colour and pageantry. The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester have cancelled their plans to continue their honeymoon in Ulster. The King has ordered the Court to go into mourning for six weeks. « Messages of sympathy are pouring in. All the flags in the city are flying at half-mast. The funeral will take place at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle, on December 7. The service will be confined to members of the Royal Family and personal friends. Simultaneously, a public memorial service will be held in the Chapel Royal at St. James's Palace. A message from Copenhagen says that the Danish Court will observe 10 days' mourning.
DOMINION'S SYMPATHY MESSAGE SENT TO THE KING BY LORD GALWAY (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, December 4. The following message has been sent by the Governor-General (Lord Gal way) to his Majesty the King:— . , "I beg to express to your Majesty, with my humble duty, the respectful sympathy of the Government and people of New Zealand on the death of her Royal Highness the Princess Victoria, news of which has been received with the deepest regret by your Majesty's subjects in this Dominion."
