Rich fruits, spices and candied peel, golden butter and fresh eggs —the best of everything goes into the Christmas fare, and, to make certain of success use only the best Baking Powder, Edmonds 'Sure to Rise!' MAKE IT THIS WAY... The Christmas Cake! t lb.Butter, i lb. Raisins, 4 oz. Mixed Peel, 3 lbs. Flout, xo Eggs, Wine-glass Brandy, 1 lb. Currants, x lb. Sultanas, 4 oz. Almonds (chopped), 1 lb? Sugar, 1 heaped teaspoon Edmonds Baking Powder. Beat butter to a cream, add sugar, then eggs one by one (unbeaten); mix baking powder with flour and put in, then fruit dredged with flour, lastly brandy. Flour, 4 teaspoons Edmonds Baking Powder, YOULL NEED CUSTARD ovn mm JELLIES TOO ?/ I m *r PfjJsSJ&J'J v: 12 os. Bread crumbs, 1J lb. chopped Suet, 12 02. Brown Sugar, 1 dessertspoon Treacle (or more), 9 Eggs, £ teaspoon Essence of Lemon, 2 cups Milk, i£ lb. Sultanas, 1 lb. Currants, 1 lb. Raisins, 8 02. Almonds (blanched), 8 02. Mixed Peel, i packet Spice, i level teaspoon Salt, & nutmeg (grated), 2 tablespoons Brandy. Mix well dry ingredients, add fruit previously prepared, treacle, eggs well beaten, and lastly milk, essence and brandy. Darken with burnt sugar if desired. Put into scalded and floured pudding cloths or into wellgreased basins covered with scalded and floured pudding cloths. If divided into two, boil 8 hours; if into four, boil 6 hours.
