WORK FOR IRRIGATION
MR G. H. HOLFORD'S SERVICES "I am quite sure that If it had not been for Mr Holford's work, irrigation in Canterbury would not be in its present promising position," remarked Mr F. Coop, chairman, at the meeting of the executive of the Canterbury Progress League last evening, in announcing that a complimentary luncheon will be given in honour of Mr G. H. Holford at Ballantyne's next Wednesday. To Mr Holford, who has been transferred to Auckland, the chairman extended the best wishes of members of the league. He paid a tribute to the work of Mr Holford as chairman -of the irrigation committee of the Progress League and the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce. A magnificent record of public service stood to Mr HoiIford'a credit, Mv Coop said. It was doubtful if any other man had done as much to assist agricultural progress. It would be difficult to find any one possessing Mr Holford's qualifications and enthusiasm willing to devote the time to such progressive movements.
