The majority were medium to good prime quality. The market opened out well up to last week's rates,;especially for the good prime sorts, and remained firm until the last few races, and by this time butchers were erratic in their oilers, and sales were only possible to make at a shade lower. This number was rather in excess of butchers' requirements when the heavy yarding of fat feheep was taken into consideration. The over supply was no doubt responsible for the sharp decline in prices compared with last week's market. Bidding was restricted throughout, and fat ewes were easier by 2s to 3s per head, and wethers by Is to Is 6d per head. The following is the range of values: — Extra prime heavy wethers, to 29s 7d; prime heavy ewes, 23s to 265; prime medium ewes, 21s to 22s 6d; light and ordinary, 20s to 20s 6d; extra prime heavy ewes, to 25s 4d; prime heavy, 19s 6d to 225; prime medium, 17s to 19s; ordinary, 15s 6d to 16s 9d; light. 13s 6d to 15s.
