The following is the Dominion Observatory's special weather forecast for Canterbury:— Moderate to strong north-east to north-west winds prevailing:. Weather fine and warm for the most part; but a cool southerly change, and possibly some showers during Thursday afternoon or evening. Seas moderate. The following is the Dominion forecast:— For the most part fair and warm; but increasing cloud. Some scattered rains developing in Westland and the far south. Pressure is very high over both New Zealand and Eastern Australia, with a shallow depression located over the Tasmaxt Sea. Winds —Northerly or north-westerly predominating; strong about Cook and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere moderate; a change to southerlies setting in in |he far south by morning. Seas (New Zealand waters) —Rough Jn the Cook and Foveaux Straits areas; elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman: Light to fresh northerly winds, changing to southerlies in the southern portion. Seas moderate to rather rough. jCHRISTCHURCH WEATHER Yesterday in Christchurch was the hottest day of the season. The city enjoyed brilliant sunshine in the early looming, with a cloudless sky and very little wind. The maximum temperafrire 78-8 degrees, was recorded at ff1.30 a.m., and the afternoon and even£jg remained fine and warm. At 1 o'clock this morning the v weather was clear, and the wind was from the north-west. The temperature was 61 degrees. The barometer, rising, registered 30.30 degrees. IN OTHER PLACES Auckland—ldeal summer weather •was again enjoyed yesterday. There was a light northerly wind, and the day was very warm. After being steady at 30.40 in for 36 hours, the barometer fell .10in yesterday afternoon. Wellington—The weather yesterday was fine and warm, although there was a considerable amount of cloud at times. A fresh northerly wind blew. The minimum temperature on Tuesday night was 55.1 degrees and the maximum yesterday was 64.7 degrees. Dunedin—The weather yesterday was again warm, with an overcast sky and practically no wind.
