ATTRACTION FOR CHILDREN

"JUNGLE" ON ROOF OF HAY'S, LTD. A, new way has been found in the city for children to amuse themselves. On the roof of Hay's, Ltd., in Gloucester street, a jungle has "grown" and in it are all the animals .usually associated with the forests of the tropics. There are many other animals and birds also and a few things which do not belong to jungles at all, but are dearly loved by children as sources of amusement and pleasure. The jungle is called an Abyssinian jungle and will be open for inspection from this afternoon. One of the first things to be seen is a settler's log hut, built in the rugged traditional style in a clearing in the forest. Then there is a waterfall, a creek, a cave, and a fountain, which will delight the children as much as it surprises them. Two New Zealand deer move quietly about behind a wire fence on one side of the jungle and not far away there is an aviary of birds of many colours. On another side there are some pheasant chicks mothered by. a bantam, some full-grown pheasants, some opossums, and other animals. An elephant, a giraffe, and similar jungle animals are also to be seen. Things which are not usually associated with jungles but are to be found in Hay's jungle include a switchback railway and several other amusement devices.
