The entry of bullocks was prini cipally of medium quality, there being > only odd consignments of prime heavycattle. The sale opened with prices prac- ' ticallv on a par with those oi the previ- . oua marfeet, with buyers showing a preL ferenee for prime ox beef. Ths sale i quickly eased, cows showing a drop of I ICS a head. The market declined further as the sale progressed, and cows and [ heifers depreciated another 5s to 10s a r head, and buliocks showed a drop of i about 10b a head. In the store cattle seci tion, 280 head were yarded. Included in the «ntry were a large number of steers. . There -was an animated sale for these, , up to 29 4s being received for a pen of j four and five-year-old large, good condi- s tioned steers. Other lines sold from. £5 | lflg to £B, according to size and breeding, i Veaiers were in short supply and a firm, j ; sals for these resulted- Graziers* and J ; boner cows changed hands at satisfactory" i • values. Only 24 dairy cows were forward, j \ and these were of mixed quality. There ; was a slack sale, only good young cows, ' meeting with any demand. j : In the fat sfieep section there was am 1 entry cf 1250, comprised principally of shorn sheen. The bulk of the offering consisted of ewes, mostly oi medium quality. The entry of prime, heavy wethers 3 1 was small. and thia eiaas attracted most. ! attention and sold at an advance of la • a head. Prime heavy ewes sold at par, 5 buyers showing a preference for sheep out of the wool, lighter descriptions sold at - late rates. The entry ot 135 lambs was 5 an attractive display,, there being several ' pens of very prime lambs forward. The sale opened 'on a slightly easier basis but ouksfcly improved, and values over the final races showed an appreciation of fully lis a head.
