FORCED LANDING IN PADDOCK

MR MELROSE SLIGHTLY INJURED (Received December 3,11.26 t p.m.) SYDNEY, December 3, While Mr C. J. Melrose was flying from Melbourne to Sydney today he met bad weather and was forced to land in a paddock at Penrose, 106 miles south of Sydney. The machine struck a stump and turned over, burying its nose in the earth. The machine was wrecked.

Railwaymen employed on the permanent way saw the accident and rushed to the spot and gave firstaid. Mr Melrose was taken 23 miles to the Bowral Hospital. He was semi-conscious when he was lifted from the aeroplane. His face and head were cut, but apparently no bones were broken, and it is reported that his injuries are not serious. He should make a speedy recovery.
