Morton, R. M.- Jen-i kins, and S. W. Lane. A welcome new feature for children (and grown-ups; too) is "The People of Pudding Hilt" by Shiela narrative, with quaint illustrations.' James Cowan presents a trio of famous New Zealanders: Gongi Hika, Hone Heke, and Tamati Waka Nene, who .made such stirring history long ago. Hori Makaire gives a very dramatic chronicle of that mysterious "Lost- Tribe"" of Fiordland, a very colourful piece of history. In "Christmas Rings" Ksn Alexander lets his fancy pl,ay merrily with Yuletide. Even folk who are not usually interested in sport will* find some thrills in W. F. Ingram's well-written review of the marvellous, career of Joe Scott, a New Zealander who was the world's most, wonderful walker. Elsie K. Morton, in "A Fiordland Riding Trip," gives a vivid description of majestic" scenery of the Lower Hollyford Valley (in the region of the new tourist road to Milford). In "A Peep Inside Picturedom—A Few New Truths About Talkies," O. N. Gillespie cleverly presents some intimate knowledge of thesubjectMemories of Sir George Grey are admirably reviewed by E, Wilson Wilson in "Kawau, Island of Dreams." Leo Fanning has "A Chat on Youth and Age." The women's section, which has been consistently good, is bettet than ever. Other features—"Pictures of New Zealand Life," "A LiteraryPage or Two," and "Wisdom of the Maori"—are well maintained.
