SEVERAL ENCOURAGING REPORTS (BEIXI3H OITIOIAL WIMUtSfI.) ' RUGBY, November 30. Further evidence of continued iadustrial progress is contained in reports from various centres. The Sheffield Chamber of Commerce states that the production of steel in Sheffield is about 100 per cent, greater than four years ago, and the output of finished products is more than 100. per"-cent, greater. The number of unemployed in Sheffield has been reduced by nearly 28,000.
The output of tonnage from the Belfast ship yards during the present year is likely to" reach 112,000 tons. Harland and Wolff have already launched one warship and seven merchant vessels since last January. ' The firm which manufactures Standard motor-cars has decided toextend its factory at a cost of £340,000, in order to increase its maximum daily output from 150 to 300 cars. Orders for machine tools valued at £150,000 have already been given. ...
