CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS OBSERVANCE BY BANKS It is understood that the holidays to be observed by the various banks at Christmas will comprise Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and the day following. In the past it has been usual to close on these days. The three days this year will fall on a Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and it is not thought likely that the Saturday morning also will be observed as a holiday. December 25 and 26 are statutory holidays, but the third day, December 27, has been for a number of years a customary holiday permitted by the Minister for Finance under section 24 of the Banking Act, 1908.
