N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT Arrangements for the forthcoming New Zealand bowling championship tournament, which will open in Christchurch on January 6, are now practically completed. All that is required to make the tournament an outstanding success is a good number of entries for each event. Those entering for the tournament can be assured of spending a very enjoyable fortnight in Christchurch. In addition to the liberal number of games provided, a very fine programme of entertainment has been arranged for those participating in the tournament, while an attractive series of picnics and social functions (including a women's bowling tournament) has been arranged for visiting ladies. Bowlers are reminded that entries close on Tuesday, December 3, and those who have not already sent in their entry forms should give the matter their immediate attention. FRIENDLY MATCHES AT KAIAPOI
As part of the Kuiapoi Working lien's Club's golden jubilee celebrations, two friendly bowling matches were played on the club's green on Saturday afternoon, three rinks playing against the Barrington Club and five rinks against Belfast. The games resulted as follows: Sanford (Barrington) 20, Simpson (Kaiapoi Working Men r s Olub) 15; Nesbitt 22, Anderson 17; Oook 27, Monk 14. ASHBURTON V. RAKAIA The pennant match between Rakaia Bowling Club (the holder) and Ashburton, Which was played on the Rakaia green on Saturday, resulted in a win for Ashburton by 90 to 72.
