Sailing Races Postponed The strong northerly wind on Saturday afternoon raised* 6 heavy eea in the harbour, and the sailing races for women skippers, which were to have been held by the Cantecbury Yacltt and Motor-boat Club, were postponed. Officials of the club met at 2 o'clock and decided that conditions were unsuitable lor women's races. Swimming The Lyttelton Ladles' Swimming Club and the Lyttelton Men's Amateur Swimming Club held a combined opening of the season at Corsair Bay on Saturday afternoon. There was a large attendance of members of both clubs, and although weather conditions were not favourable for swimming, there were good entries for all the events. The Mayor (Mr F. E. Sutton) declared the season open. Results of the events were aa fallows:— Women's races—2s yards handicap: Miss Betty Weastell (Ssec) 1, Miss ft, Madden (Ssec) 2, Miss M. Stewart (3sec) 3: 50 yards handicap: Miss P. Duckworth (3sec) 1, Miss J. Morris (scr) 2, Miss M. Stearne (7sec) 8. Novelty event: Miss R. Madden. I, Miss M. Stearne 2. Men's Events—2s yards handicap: J Childs ttsec) 1, A. Whitham («sec> 2, W. Morris (Ssec) 3. 33 1-3 yards Jhan» dicap: P. Reardon (Isec) 1, J. Mackle (3sec) 2, J. Childs (ssec) 3. Dive: I Dromgoole (27 points) 1, P. Reardon (26 points) and L. Coombea (88 points) equal 2. '
