ORGAN RECITALS
AT THE CATHEDRAL There was a good attendance at the Cathedral last night, when an organ recital was given by Dr. J. C. Bradshaw. The programme was as follows: Organ sonata in C sharp minor, Allegro appassionata (Harwood); Pastorale , in E. major (Cesar Franck); Legend, "St. Francis Preaching to the Birds," ' for the pianoforte (Liszt); Idyll in F. op. 165 (Rheinberger); Prelude in C sharp minor for the pianoforte (Rachmaninoff); Rhapsodie sur les Cantiques Bretons (9tint-Saens); Concert Fantasia on the hymn "O Sanctissima" (Lux); Prelude in B (Scriabin); "Solitude" (Cyril Scott); suite for full orchestra, "Peer Gynt." "Morning," "The Death of Ase," "In the Hall of the Mountain King" (Greig). FIRST CHURCH OF CHRIST, SCIENTIST An organ recital was given last i evening by Dr. V. E. Galway, Dunedin city organist, on the new organ at First ! Church of Christ, Scientist. I There was a very good attendance. Dr. Galway was assisted by Mr Rex Harrison and Mr T. Williams, soloists. The following was the programme:—Trumpet voluntary (Purcell); Ave Maria (Arcadelt); choral preludes, (a) "Sleepers, Wake! A Voice is Calling," (b) "We All Believe in One God" (Bach); an old-time tune (Martin); solo, Mr T. Williams, "How Great, O Lord" (from "St. Peter") (Benedict); Offertoire sur deux Noels (Guilmant); Toccata (Dubois); entr'acte from "Manfred" (Reinecke); solo, Mr Rex. Harrison; "Abide With Me" (Liddel); A Spring Song (Hollins); "The Foggy Dew" (Irish air) (arranged by C. V. Stanford); March on a Theme of Handel (Guilmant).
