HEALTH CAMPS

* FOURTH WEEK OF THE CAMPAIGN PUBLIC'S STEADY SUPPORT (rBIS3 ASSOCIiTIOH TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, November 5. The steady support of the public for .he health camp movement, centring round the sale of the twopenny health .stamp, has put fresh heart into the organisations concerned. The fourth ■.vcek of the campaign was restricted by the inclusion of Labour Day, a collectors' holiday, when the post offices were closed; but the £IOOO a week average of the preceding periods was again nearly achieved, th; total announced by the Director-General o' the Post and Telegraph Department (Mr G. McNamara) for the end of the reriod being £llOB3 19s 7d, comprising receipts from the sale of stamps £2119 7s 7d, envelopes £220 10s, and donations £lOl9 2s. The district totals to date are as follows: £ s. d. Wellington .. .. 841 1 5 Pahiv-rston North .. 308 1 7 Auckland .. .. 356 9 4 Nav,icr .. .. ~ 351 14 0 Dunedin .. .. .. 313 5 5 New Plymouth .. .. 273 9 10 Christchurch .. .. 265 15 5 ' nvcrcargiU .. .. 214 1 10 Hamilton .- .. 201 8 8 Wanganui .. .. 145 16 10 Timaru .. .. .. 114 7 5 Oamaru .. ~ .. 11l 9 3 Blenheim .. .. 104 19 11 Thames .. .. .. 100 11 1 Grcymouth .. .. 85 2 9 Cisborne .. .. .. 53 19 10 Nelson .. .. .. 39 4 9 Westport .. .. 6 0 3 The time is approaching when the health csmps are to be opened, and the public response to the appeal this year is encouraging. Most of the committees plan extensions of their wcrk by taking larger numbers of vnder-ncurished children into these camps to enjoy a holiday, during which their diet, their rest, and recreation will be carefully supervised, and the foundations laid for better health when they return to their homes.
