NEW RAILWAY STATION
ANOTHER DEPUTATION ] SUPPORT OF PRIME MINISTER SOUGHT Having taken up the matter of th* provision of a new railway station an* terminal facilities at Christchurchan* the elimination of the Colombo streel crossing with the Government Bafl« wavs Board, the Christchurch Citf Council and the Canterbury Chamoer of Commerce will now approach u» Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. G. w. Forbes) urging that the Government should consider making funds ay?";" able for the work. The deputation, which will meet the Prime Minister tomorrow morning, will consist 01 tn« Mayor (Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P.), tM deputy-Mavor (Cr. J. W. Beanland)» and the president of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce (Mr F. ". Kobbs). . The need for both a new station anathe elimination of the Colombo street crossing has. it is stated, been recognised bv the board, and the various bodies in Christchurch which have strongly supported the projects are now hopeful of gaining the Government's sympathv. The work, of course, would have to be under Government authority as the Government wouia have to control capital expenditure.
