KAIAPOI BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Kaiapoi Borough Council met last night, when there were present the Mayor, the Rev. W. H. A. Vickery, Crs. C. M. Williams, G. Wright, J. Hirst, F. Thorne, H. Rinaldi, I. W. Karaitisna,, and A. Gordon. The secretary of the Kaiapoi branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association wrote asking for permission to hold a street stall in November in airj of the association's children's Christmas entertainment. Permission was granted. The financial statement showed receipts to be £374 13s Id, and the debit bsnk balance £614 5s 9d. Accounts passed for payment amounted to- £330 os Id. T'nie secretary of the Kaiapoi Pines Beach Association wrote asking if the council would co-operate in removing and ievelling the sandhill on the oval at the Pines. It was decided that the council assist with the work. On the recommendation of the works committee it was decided that tenders be called for the construction of a fire sump Oh the north side of the river at the main bridge.
