TUESDAY (Before air E. C. Levvey, S.M.) FORGERY CHARGE ' A further remand to September 24 was granted in the case of a young domestic charged with forging and uttering a Post Office Savings Bank withdrawal receipt for £ 50. CHARGE ADJOURNED John Strangeway, aged 40, was charged with failing to comply with the terms of his release on probation. The magistrate said that he would adjourn the case sine die and warned the defendant that he had three months' imprisonment hanging over, him.

CLAIM AND COUNTER-CLAIM Reserved judgment was given in the case in which William Wallace Grey claimed from Arthur Hodgson, £7O 15s, as damages arising from an accident near the Bridge of Remembrance. Hodgson counter-claimed for £22 ss. Judgment was given for defendant on the claim, and for plaintiff on the counter-claim. RESERVED JUDGMENT j. A claim for a penalty of £lO for a breach of the award under the Shop Assistants Act, was made'by Mr R. T. Bailey, on behalf of the Labour Department, against Ernest J. Adcock, sheet metal worker, of Madras street (Mr H. Edgar). There was also a civil claim by Miss Brinkman, for whom Mr Bailey appeared, for £l4 10s, as the amount of wages short paid. In his reserved judgment the magistrate found that the defendant was bound by the award. He dismissed the claim for a penalty, but in the civil action, as the defendant was bound by the award, judgment had to go to the plaintiff. The magistrate said that he had every sympathy with the defendant, and said that he had no discretion in the case, and judgment had to be given for the iull amount. CLAIM UPHELD Mrs M. A. Dodgson, of Christchurch, a widow (Mr W. F. Tracy) claimed £4O from H. R. J. Diedrichs, caterer (Mr A. W. Brown), for services rendered. and wages due in lieu of notice of dismissal. The magistrate, in giving judgment for plaintiff for £lO for services rendered and £l2 for the balance of wages due in lieu of proper notice of dismissal, said that defendant had apparently treated plaintiff in a very cavalier fashion. FURTHER ARGUMENT IN SUPREME COURT
The will of George Jameson, whose estate was sworn at £53,000, was again before his Honour ,M.r Justice Northcroft, in the Supreme Court yesterday, when legal argument was heard on the incidence of a court order. His Honour reserved his decision. Applications by the widow and one-son,. J.O. Jameson, for increased allowances under the will had previously been heard by his Honour, the widow's allowance being increased and the son's application being adjourned until his financial position was clarified. Mr K. M. Gresson appeared for the widow, Vera Blanche Lowxy. Jameson, and a son, W. A. Jameson; Mr W. R. Lascelles appeared for J. O. Jameson; Mr W. J. Sim appeared for R. L.
