MAGISTRATE'S COURT

MONDAY (Before Mr E. C. Lewey, SJM.) CHARGES OF THEFT Gordon Alexander Anderson was ordered to be detained in the Borstal Institution for two years on a charge of stealing a tricycle valued at £l2 10s, the property of Thomas Hill. A similar charge against his brother, William Peter..Anderson (Mr H. M. S. Dawson) was dismissed. William' Peter Anderson was also cnarged with fighting with another man in a dance hall last Friday, and was fined £2 and ordered to pay costs. TRAFFIC CASES

The following breaches of the traffic regulations were dealt with:— Speeding—John F. Cracroft Wilson and Robert Oughton, each fined 20s and ordered to pay costs; Arthur James Bruning, fined £3, ordered to pay costs, and his license was endorsed. Keith Edmonds and William Stephen Tredennick, each fined £5 and ordered to pay costs. i No Tail-light—Jack Cassidy and Clement Stewart, each fine 5s and ordered to pay costs. Parking in a Prohibited Area—John Kempthorne, fined 10s and ordered to pay costs. Cycling Without a Light—Donald H. Doak, fined 5s and ordered to pay costs. I Parking Too Far from Kerb—Clarence Campbell Falconer, Roland Jefferys, and waiter Power, each fined 5& and ordered to pay costs. No Heavy Traffic License —Eric Hands, Eric Pocock, and Leonard W. Prosser, each fined £2 and ordered to pay costs. Parking Without Lights—James Alexander Henderson and Basil Sidney Hollis, each fined 10s and ordered to pay costs; John V. McKeague and Robert Peters, each fined 5s and ordi ered to pay costs. I No Driver's License—George Sunderland Meredith, fined 5s and ordered to pay costs. Failing to Produce License—Frederick Arthur H. Penfold, fined 5s and ordered to pay costs. Inefficient Silencer—Clement Stewart, fined 5s and ordered to pay costs. Overtaking at an Intersection—Albert Edward Talbot, fined 5s and ordered to pay costs.

MAINTENANCE COURT (Before Mr F. F. Reid,, S.M.) DISOBEDIENCE OF ORDERS Albert Wilshife, convicted and discharged. William George McDowell, convicted and fined £2, with one week to pay. Alexander Kinghorn Ross, convicted and ordered to pay costs, with 14 days to pay. Walter Vincent Stringer, convicted and sentenced to 14' days' imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended as long as the arrears are paid off at the rate of Is a week in addition to the current order. AFFILIATION ORDER An affiliation order was made against David Evans, and he was ordered to pay maintenance at the rate of 5s a week. ORDERS MADE A maintenance order was made against, Charles Johnstone for 5s a week. An order was made against Benjamin James Shears for 12s 6d a week. A guardianship order was also made. Separation, maintenance, and guardianship orders were made against William Shilton in favour of his wife anu four children. Maintenance was fixed at the rate allowed by the Unemployment Board.
