WORK FOR 100 CITY MEN
HOKHTKA AERODROME DEVELOPMENT OFFER TO SINGLE UNEMPLOYED One - hundred single unemployed menfrom Christchurch will shortly be given, work on the West Coast, levelling and preparing the Government aerodrome at Hokitika. If the Unemployment Bureau can secure the full quota,'it is expected that they will be starting' work there within a fortnight It has been decided to speed up the development work on the aerodrome, which has been in use at Hokitika, on the southern bank of the Hokitika river. Fifty men will be engaged from the West Coast for full-time contract; work on standard rates of pay, preference to be given to unemployed married men. This number will be supplemented by the draft of 100 from Christchurch. The Christchurch men are. how being offered the work at the unemployment bureau, the selection f being made either from single men on sustenance or men on No. 5 scheme work.
