WAIMAKARIRI HARBOUR BOARD MEETS
The Waimakariri Harbour Board met last night. There were present the chairman (Dr. M. Ramsay), Messrs J. Hirst, H. O. Hills, H. Rinaldi, J. C. Simpson, and J. A. Mealings. The secretary of the Harbours Association of New Zealand wrote forwarding particulars of recent legal opinions obtained by the association on questions raised by members, also forwarding a copy of the Order-in-Council authorising the investment of harbour board sinking funds in Mortgage Corporation securities. The tetter was received. A contribution of £2 2s was made to the Canterbury Progress League. The director of the Kaiapoi Technical Classes wrote asking if the board would continue its annual grant towards the class funds. The annual grant of £3 was agreed to. ' The secretary of the Cure Boating Club wrote asking if the club could have the use of one of thei Harbour Board sheds, as the club's present shed for housing the boats was in very . *L ? e P air - K was decided that the club be asked to giVe definite information as to its requirements Mr Mealings moved the notice of motion standing in his name that the board's previous resolution about the appointment of a harbour committee be rescinded. The motion wac seconded by Mr Simpson and carried. It was decided that the whole board be the h&rbour and works committee, and that Mr Mealings be the chairman of the committee. The financial statement showed re* counts since last meeting to be £313 8s 7d, and the credit bank balance £SB 18s 2d. Accounts passed for payment amounted to £219 9s 3d. I
