MANAGEMENT COxMMITTEE MEETING
A letter was received from the trade union secretaries at a meeting of the executive' committee of the Canterbury Rugby League last evening, complaining that the league had used the cars of a local firm for transporting the Auckland representative team while it was in Christchurch last Saturday. The letter took exception to this on the grounds that the company worked on a share system, and alleged that employees of the firm worked long hours for. low wages. It was decided to reply that the firm had supported the league, and the executive committee was not aware that the firm was not paying the award rate of wages. , , Mr •W. S. E. Moyle presided, and also present were Messrs R. A. Drury, C. Goodman, F. Rowe, H. Worsfold, W. Wilkins, P. Newman, J. Underwood, E. R. McSweeney, P. Kirton, and H. B. Rogers," secretary. N The chairman referred to the good showing put up by Canterbury in the representative match against Auckland last Saturday, and sympathised with the captain, J. Amos, as an injury had prevented him taking part in the match. It was decided that one of the senior players of the Waimairi Club, who behaved in an unseemly manner during a game on the West Coast on September 1, be suspended for the whole of the next playing season. An apology from another player was accepted. Discussion on this matter was taken in committee. The junior advisory committee reported that the junior grade competition had been closed with New Brighton the winners with 11 points, and Addington and Hornby runners-up with seven points. The following is the draw for the junior knock-out competition:—Hornby v. Waimairi, Monica Park, 2.30 p.m.; Addington v. New Brighton, Jerrold street, 2.30 p.m.; Ruru, a bye.
