In opening the Nazi Congress, Herr Adolf Wagner read a proclamation by Herr Hitler in which he said: "Germany is no longer the world's defenceless plaything. Our most precious and proudest property is our army. We shall retain our power, and we shall strike j

down every opposition directly it shows itself. We do not intend to Sght the Christian religion, but we will not tolerate a continuance of political activities of different confessions under any disguise. We shall strengthen the German Reich through the army and make it safer." One thousand Brown Shirts cheered themselves hoarse when the reading of the proclamation was finished.

Herr Rudolf Hess (leader of the party) followed with a panegyric on the New Germany, especially the army. He said: "It is not the army's duty to conquer foreign lands. Wherever war breaks out Moscow has a liand in it. Germany is determined never to let the victory she has won over Bolshevism be taken from her, and n,ever to let Jewish agents of a foreign power regain their influence in German affairs."
