CANDIDATURE OP SIR * ALEXANDER HERDMAN
AN AUCKLAND RUMOUR [TBS 3P&SSS Special Service.] AUCKLAND, September 12. A persistent rumour \m been in circulation in Auckland -■■> and. elsewhere that Sir Alexander Herdman intends to abandon his candidature for the Parnell seat at the coming general election, which he announced on August 1, the day after his retirement from the Supreme Court Bench. When an enquiry was made tonight, Sir Alexander had no statement to make on the matter. Up to the present, five candidates for the Parnell seat have been announced, Mr W. P. Endean, M.P. (Government), Sir Alexander Herdman (Independent), Messrs H. W. Woodruff e (Independent), F. C. Jordan (Liberal), and A. G. Osborne (Labour).
A WELLINGTON REPORT (»*»!»» *ssocu«oji tmsftiAti.) WELLINGTON, September 12. It was authoritatively stated in Parliamentary circles to-day that the report that Sir Alexander Herdman intended to retire from the Parnell contest had been confirmed.
