PIONEER MOTOR CLUB FIXTURES ' " ! August 12—Annual prize-giving and social evening. Notes The annual meeting of the Pioneer Motor Club was held in the club rooms. There was a good attendance and the accounts for the year ending June 30. 1935, disclosed a credit balance on the year's working, which was deemed very satisfactory. The election of officers for the new season provided some keen competition. The following were elected:— Patron. Mr F. R. Jones; president, Mr R. H. Parker; vice-presidents, Messrs E. J. Bradshaw and J. Brewer; captain, Mr L. E. J. Cook; vice-captain, Mr A. Laurenson: executive committee, Messrs H. S. Butcher, W. Lawrence, J. R. Bourne. W. Nelson, and R. Hyde; sports committee. Messrs R. Lovegrove, A. Lamport, G. Benneit, and G. A. Urry; secretary-treasurer, Mr C. R. Reynolds.
CANTERBURY AUTO CYCLE CLUB FIXTURES August 31—Speed Trials. September 14—Hill Climb. October 6—Opening Run. October 26—Social Reliability TrlaL November 16—Beach Races. December 14—Paper Chase. 1936—Hi1l Climb, Beach Races, Social Run (Akaroa). Miniature T.T., Major Reliability Trial. Social Reliability Trial, Hurly Burly. Notes A new course has been found for the speed trials, which will probably be electrically timed. Both flying and standing starts will be included in the programme. This event is a fine chance for club members to test their machines before the serious work of the season commences. Further details of the trials will be announced later. CORSAIR MOTOR' CLUB FIXTURES NOTES July 30—Carnival Dance; August 13—Election of Officers. August 27—Birthday Carnival. September I—Opening Run. The election of a new committee and officers will be held on Tuesday fortnight, and will be followed by the birthday celebration dance two weeks later. The second half of the season's programme has been receiving careful attention. and a large number of motor Sundays has been arranged. Eight meetings in all are on the programme and these include the usual gymkhana events, hill climbs, beach races, hurly burly, and of course the Moeraki races.
By 'ihe recent trade treaty with Poland the duties on light cars were reduced to an extent which will enable United Kingdom manufacturers to re-enter this market after a lapse of a considerable period.
