Seas (New Zealand waters) —Rough to high north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura; moderate on the West Coast of the South Island; elsewhere rather rough. Eastern Tasman Sea—Strong southerly winds, with rough seas, but wind and sea gradually decreasing. Weather—Still mainly fair in Westland; otherwise cold, cloudy, and unsettled, with fairly general rain, some heavy falls-being likely in the North Island, with flooding in places. Snow on the ranges.
