HOCKEY
CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION DELEGATES' , MEETING Mr I*. F. N. Ward presided at s special meeting of delegates to the Canterbury Hockey Association, held in the rooms of the Pioneer Sports Club last evening. In accordance with resolutions moved by Mr L. L. Smith it was agreed to incorporate the association as a registered body under the Incorporated Societies Act Mr A, L. Graham moved, and it was agreed, that the number of life members be limited to seven. On the motion of Mr J. L. Squire, Messrs C. S. Bel'amy and L. L. Smith were unanimously elected life members of the association. Mr C. Rogers suggested that copies of the Alms' taken of the recent test match be secured and shown to club members as an education to all plavers. The lack of conveniences at Hagley Park was freely discussed, and the meeting stated that the Domains Bnsrd had been approached in the matter several times, but that the cost of erecting a bui'dlng was considered prohibitive. The matter was referred to the management committee. The advisability of arranging hockey matches during the summer ewninrrs was discussed, and it was decided to recommend that the management committee consider the scheme. Management Committee Meeting At a meeting of the management committee Mr C. S. Clements presided over a full attendance. The South Canterbury Association wrote suggesting August 17 as a suitable date for a match in Christchurch. This was agreed to. I Dr. W. S". Seed, chairman of the [Canterbury Rugby Union, reported on i the meeting of sports associat'ons concerning the Mayor's relief scheme and the Queen Carnival. The latter asked that the various sports bodies raise i funds for the sports queen 011 their j own initiative and report to the sports | committee. It was decided to apply j for permission to take up a cMW-t'in j at the flve-a-side tourney on Saturday j next for the benefit of the fund. i
The Otago Association wrote regretting that, as they had no dates available for a match against Canterbury this season, the arrangement for a match would be held over till next season. The Mid-Canterbury Association also wrote regretting that August 17 was not suitable as the date to visit Christchurch, and it was decided to suggest August 24 as a suitable date.
