ACCIDENTS
■■■ I, , MAN FOUND DEAD WITH UIFLEf NEARBY (SMCIAL TO TUS. FBEBB.} BLENHEIM, July 24. Mr Francis Bine Rush, a 'well-known resident of Canvastown, and a retired employee of the Post and Telegraph Department, aged 56 ybars, was found dead at his home last evening with a rifle wound in his head. He had suffered a nervous breakdown 10 days rgo and was brought to Blenheim, where he received medical attention and made a steady recovery. He returned home last evening, arriving about 6 o'clock, but was later found by his son lying near the motor shed with a rifle wound in his head. A .22 calibre rille was lying nearby, MAN KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR John Hayes, an elderly man, living at Halswell, had his left shoulder dis-' located and received abrasions to an elbow when he was knocked down by a motor-car in Lincoln road yesterday. He was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital shortly before 6 p.m., and later in the evening his condition was said to be satisfactory.
